MOBILE VIDEO STREAMING

Together with our technologies partner, Mcomms Design we design, develop and integrate software solutions for live mobile TV monitoring, digital audio/video mixing and transcoding for the telecommunications industry.

Our solutions allow service providers to enhance the user experience and improve the QoS of their mobile video sreaming services..

Real Time Monitoring of Video Streams

MMcomms Monitoring software can monitor up to 16 live or on-demand video streams. It displays the audio and video on screen and generates SNMP alarms if a stream fails. Video streaming operators can use Mcomms Monitor to display all their video streams on the wall of a GOC/NOC or just on a desktop PC for fast testing of multiple streams. Mcomms Monitoring software connects to your video streaming server or proxy in the same way as your customers do; you watch the same streams as your customers.

Live Menu Generation

Mcomms Video Portal is a new product from Mcomms Design that greatly simplifies the construction of video streaming menu production.

Previously the only way to construct a video portal using live video streams was to:

  • Decode each stream from it's transmitted format
  • Use a TV station type video mixer to mix all the streams into 1 image
  • Program the video mixer to select 1 audio stream at a time
  • Use a character generator to overlay text
  • Encode the resulting audio and video using a streaming encoder
  • Now Mcomms Video Portal does all this and more in a single software application!
  • Mcomms Video Portal provides the video streaming operator with a single application that can mix 4 or more live or on-demand video streams, overlay graphics, mix audio and output in almost any common streaming format.

Mcomms Video Portal Features

  • A new way to create the video portal dynamically
  • Takes encoded video streams as input
  • No analogue backhaul or decoders
  • Consists of software running on a standard Windows Server
  • No expensive hardware
  • Performs video mixing entirely in digital domain (no D to A and A to D conversion)
  • Simple to configure using graphical user interface
  • No inflexible pre-programming and thick user manuals

Live Encoding & Multiple Formats

Mcomms Video Portal allows operators and content providers to repurpose their content from an existing Internet friendly stream into a mobile friendly stream live - in real time.

How it Works:

The content provider makes a media stream available in any format that Windows is capable of playing natively. Mcomms Video Portal software is configured to connect to the content provider using one of the standard internet streaming protocols and download or stream the media.

Mcomms Video Portal software then converts the stream to an operator configured format such as 3GPP or MPEG4, during this process the audio and video frame rates and video size can also be changed.

Once the media format is converted, the stream is output to a streaming server (Apple Darwin, Real Helix, Sun, etc.) ready to be streamed to any mobile handset.

Features:

  • Transcodes media from internet content providers in Real Media, Windows Media and many other formats
  • Up to 4 output streams in different formats
  • Creates live streams from pre stored media files including endless looping
  • Processes any media format supported by Windows® as input or output media streams
  • Handles errors and interruptions in the media streams and will automatically restart a stream if it is lost for some reason
  • User configurable buffer of incoming media is large enough so that even if the stream is restarted, there will be no loss of frames to the end user.
  • Operator watermarks and logos can be added to the video image for branding purposes
  • Audio volume can be adjusted
  • SNMP Alarms for many events including failures of input streams
  • All applicable features are common between video portal, transcoding and multi format modes.
